Special opening of Studio Le Colonne.
The art of Gianfranco Mello on Borgo Pinti
Everyone knows the wonderful works of art that Giambologna left to Florence, such as The Rape of the Sabine Women and Hercules and the Centaur Nessus in the Loggia dei Lanzi. Those who love this great artist who came from Flanders to Florence in the sixteenth century to leave his mark on art with his genius, will certainly be curious to visit the laboratory where Giambologna created his immortal works. The space is at numbers 22 and 24 of Borgo Pinti and it was returned to the spirit of art by a contemporary painter originally from Venice, Gianfranco Mello. The Fondazione Mello Studio d’arte Le Colonne will open the studio especially for the Arcobaleno d’estate [Summer Rainbow] festival today [17 June 2016] and tomorrow from 4 pm to 11 pm. Today, the rooms of the Foundation hold the colour and light of the Venetian artist and host the many initiatives that are open to contemporary themes.
